Training ELT Teachers is a collection of free resources and materials for trainers and trainees involved in English language teaching professional development courses and workshops, like the Cambridge CELTA, Cambridge DELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, and any other TEFL or TESOL courses.
Resources and materials cover topics such as:
Each topic comprises different sessions that include:
Each session offers up to 2 hours of instruction.
Sessions have been developed and tested in the context of the Cambridge CELTA and DELTA teacher training courses. Depending on the level of instruction and input required, sessions and activities can be used and adapted to meet the needs of novice and more experienced teachers in pre-service and in-service TEFL / TESOL training programs.
Where possible, the educational approach takes advantage of an experiential model which involves a concrete experience (as learners) and a reflection to conceptualize the experience for future experimentation (as teachers). This is enriched by the use of texts whose content is congruent with the experience (loop input).
Some of the sessions can be 'flipped' and complementary self-study material is available in preparation for in-class instruction.
Training ELT Teachers is work in progress and the collection is constantly growing, changing and evolving to respond to feedback from teacher trainers and students. New sessions and new versions are regularly uploaded and made available to be tried and tested in different contexts.
This project is not funded by any institution, organization or publisher and all the resources on this web site are free to download for educational purposes. We only ask for feedback to help us improve our work and provide a better learning experience for our teacher students.

Where possible, original sources of 'inspiration' for tasks and activities have been acknowledged. It's often impossible, though, to trace the real source of everything presented in a training session. Ideas have materialized thanks to something read in a book or journal, something seen or heard at a conference or workshop, a colleague's memorable session, a discussion in the staff room, a post on social media, etc. If you feel that any section is inappropriately referenced or infringes copyrights, please get in touch and it will be reviewed or removed.
